FEDERAL CHARACTER COMMISSION COMMITTEE ON EDUCATION VISIT BCDA

The Border Communities’ Development Agency (BCDA) recently played host to the Federal Character Commission at the conference hall of the Agency in Maitama, Abuja.
The Executive Secretary of the Agency, Captain Junaid Abdullahi while welcoming the team from Federal Character Commission reiterated the Agency’s readiness to fulfill its mandate in the areas of providing basic social and infrastructural amenities in every border community. He further explained that there are about 3,000 border communities in 21 States of the country and the task before the Agency is enormous. He however reassured the team that his Management team is capable of discharging the functions of the Agency.
In Response, Mr Alabi James Morakenyo who led the Education Committee from the Education Committee from the Federal Character Commission thanked the Executive Secretary for giving them audience. He lauds the good works of the Agency and assures the Executive Secretary and Management of a good working relationship. He Stated that the purpose of their visit is to intimate the Agency of their second mandate. He explained that the general public seems to be more acquitted with their first mandate which is equitable representation of citizens from every state in Nigeria in recruitment and career progression in the civil and public service. He however, said their committee on Education is in BCDA to enlighten the Agency about their second mandate which is about equitable representation in the distribution of amenities and development in all the states under the mandate and jurisdiction of the Agency. He solicited for cooperation to enable their Committee fulfill its mandate.
After a robust interactive session, both Agencies of Government agreed to work together for common good of the country.
